Hoop Wall Art Tutorial

What you need to make Hoop Wall Art:

• Various sizes of embroidery hoops
• Fabric of your choice
• Craft glue
• Scissors
• Wall for your Hoop Art

I purchased all my supplies at Hobby Lobby.

Here is my Hoop Art!  I rent, so this was a perfect way to add colors to the wall without upsetting the landlords.

Supplies

Cut your fabric slightly larger than your hoop.  Then lay the fabric over the center hoop.

Place outer hoop over the fabric and center hoop.  Make sure fabric is tight.

Flip over and place glue on the center hoop.

  Once covered with glue fold fabric down and press.

Let it dry.

Finally you trim up your edges with scissors and you are finished!

Cross Mug Rug

 I made Grandpa's Mug Rug just playing around.  I'd seen some cross quilts and thought this would be something he'd like.  I didn't want it to be too girly looking but still wanted it to match Grandma's.  The only thing I'd do differently was make it bigger.  His turned out quite a bit smaller than hers.

A Life of Fear

1 Peter 1:17-19  If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of you stay on earth: knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.

Observation:  God is a judge.  I looked up to see the meaning of impartially, it means fair judgement.  God is a fair and just Judge and a responsible Father who "won't let us get by with sloppy living." (1 Peter 1:17 MSG) 

Conduct yourselves in fear...What is this fear?  It's a healthy respect of a believer for the all-powerful God.  It's an awareness that one is always in the presence of God.  It's a life of one who is in awe and worship of God.

God paid for our freedom from sin, not with money, but with the precious blood of His own Son Jesus Christ.  Only through Jesus can we be freed from the bondage of sin.  That right there should bring us to utter awe of our Heavenly Father. 

Application:  We have been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ.  I don't know about you but I want to make the changes I need to live like it.  Let's turn our backs on our former lives.  I know that I cannot escape sin on my own, so I must rely totally on Jesus, only He can free me.  I cannot ignore God or treat Him casually.  I must show respect to my Heavenly Father.  For He is a good Father who Judges fairly.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I praise you and worship you for being a good Father who judges fairly.  I thank you for the price you paid, the precious blood of your own Son Jesus, to free me from the bondage of sin. I know that I cannot escape sin on my own so I ask that you would help me have victory over sin. In Jesus' Name, Amen!

My hubby designed the coffee mug for me so I could applique it onto the Mug Rug.  I'm not very good at drawing so anytime you see applique, chances are the other family members contributed to that project.

Holiness

1 Peter 1:14-16  As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it its written, "You shall be holy for I am holy."

Holiness is the desire and duty of every Christian.  When we follow Jesus we repent of sin and through Christ we no longer have to live in the former lusts of the flesh.  As we grow in Christ, our lives begin to imitate Him, the Holy One.  We should strive to be holy in all our behavior. 

God's qualities in our lives makes us different and sets us apart, our focus and priorities must be His.  On our own we cannot become holy, but God gives us His Holy Spirit to help us obey and overcome sin.  We can call on God's power to free us from sin's grip. 

"Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God."  Matthew 5:8

 This is my daughter's work-in-progress 9-Patch Wall Quilt.  Since this picture was taken we've added heart appliques to the solid pieces.  I can't wait until it is all finished.

Sewing Machine Cover

I was in serious need of a sewing machine cover but didn't want to go buy a boring white thingy so I searched for a pattern to make one and here is what I found: Sewing Machine Cover

Her tutorial was super easy, especially for a newbie like me. My daughter helped with the sewing.  She did an awesome job!  I didn't have enough of a solid material for the back so I just used my leftover strips, either way works!

Husker Mug Rugs

I met this wonderful woman who offered to teach my daughter and I to quilt. So I took some time off blogging and making jewelry and got busy quilting. I had tried sewing once before and that was years ago to make a shirt for my sweet Grandpa Jim. I did that with the help of my mom. Well it just was to hard so I never tried again until recently.  Now I'm absolutely in love with sewing and quilting.  Projects so far: one twin sized Log Cabin Quilt, many Mug Rugs, and my daughter made her very own Wall Quilt.  Photos coming soon! 

Mug Rugs?  They are mini quilts.  You can use Mug Rugs as a coaster or a little place mat.  The ones pictured here are my most recent. I had made a few before using cheater binding but was not to happy with them so I decided for these I'd use double fold binding.  And I was much happier with these.

I bought all this Husker material before I knew I was moving to Oklahoma.  So as soon as we are more settled into the new place I will be making some more to sell at my Etsy Shop.  The two pictured here are SOLD already.

Swarovski Pearl Beaded Bracelet-SOLD

This bracelet was made using black seed beads and bronze Swarovski Crystal Pearls finished off with a button clasp.  Bracelet is 7 1/4" long and 3/4" wide.  $33.00

Embroidered Lace Owl Necklace

The embroidered light brown lace owl was made by Eileen and I added the bead-work.  The beads used in this necklace are dark brown seed beads and a fall mix of Swarovski crystals.  This is a custom made necklace but if you are interested in purchasing contact me at handmadebyhisgrace@gmail.com.  Cost is $38.00.

Cabled Herringbone Bracelet-SOLD

I made this bracelet using a design by Rae Arlene Reller.  It was so much fun making this the second time around.  My first try my daughter said it looked like bacon, that's when I knew something had gone wrong.  I wish I would've taken a picture to show you.  The colors used were black, garnet, pearl cream, and translucent gold seed beads.  And a button clasp to finish it off.  This bracelet is 7 1/2" long and the width is 3/4".  $22.00

Vintage Flower Ring-SOLD

I made the ring using natural brass filigree and topped it with a handmade flower.  To make the flower, I used dyed dark brown mussel shells, a mother of pearl bead, and seed beads.  This ring is adjustable and is one size fits most.

Twisted Herringbone Necklace with Glass Heart Pendant-SOLD

Black Twisted Tubular Herringbone Necklace with a Black and Turquoise Glass Heart Pendant

17" long

It's been a long time since I put any jewelry on here and there is a very good reason........I've been beading!!!  This necklace took me forever to make, it's my first ever beaded necklace using the twisted tubular herringbone stitch.  At first I thought this was the hardest thing I've ever made and wondered what on earth did I get myself into but once I got the hang of it I found it to be almost as relaxing as making chainmail.  I'm hooked on beading and am currently working on 3 different bracelets.  Check back in over the next few weeks.  I will also have some Husker bracelets for you lady fans out there.

Miniature Lace Flower Headband

I made the ribbon flower using this tutorial then I placed in the center a miniature lace flower made by Eileen.  This is now one of our favorite headbands.  You can place all sorts of stuff in the center of the ribbon flower: buttons, crystals, more flowers, miniature lace, etc...  The possibilities are endless just as long as you are willing to keep creating.

Handmade Dress and Fabric Rose Headband

My mom made this adorable dress for my daughter.  I was wanting something for her hair to match and found a tutorial on how to make fabric roses using scrap material.  Luckily my mom had plenty of scrap to spare and below you can see the fabric rose headband I made.  She looked adorable from head to toe.
